Solar Impulse II completed the first round-the-world flight in a solar-powered aeroplane, piloted by Bertrand Piccard and André Borschberg. The plane has 17,000 solar cells on its wings and a longer wingspan than a Boeing 747. The round trip from Abu Dhabi took 23 days with 16 stops over a 16-month period.
